Technology Demonstration

I selected EdPuzzle because it was a software program I’d heard of this school year but never got the opportunity to use in my classroom. After researching EdPuzzle’s capabilities, I chose it for this lesson because it is suitable for introductory lessons or vocabulary heavy lessons. In these scenarios, students are not asked to complete many tasks, but to demonstrate conceptual and factual understanding by answering the comprehensive questions on the video. Overall, this program significantly contributes to the lesson as it promptly provides teachers with comprehension data on students conceptual understanding of exponential properties and provides students with an alternative method of engaging with the lesson.

This technology also helps to differentiate the lesson for students who struggle with reading, or English Language Learners (ELLs). ELLs could use the translation or subtitle features (as necessary) to make the learn more accessible. Alternatively, students who struggle with the concept of particular properties, or who may need scaffolded videos could receive different links to their student learning system. The teacher also has the ability to change the video questions that AI generated. One way an effective teacher could provide alternative instruction when using this edtech program is for an advanced student to select a video that fully encompasses the concepts of the unit as a review video for the class. The identification of such video will demonstrate the student’s understanding of learning concepts.
